The Brotherhood of The Americas of Our Lady of Rocio is helping raise awareness and funds to fight illiteracy in Leon, Nicaragua. In third world countries though some governments provide free or semi-free education, it is the responsibility of parents to provide their children with uniforms and school supplies.

The Brotherhood of Our Lady of Rocio has adopted a school in Leon, Nicaragua. Our hope is to assist those kids whose parents can not afford to purchase the necessary books and school supplies so that their kids receive the proper education. According to Mrs.. Munguia, a pre-school teacher, half her students parents can not afford the 50 Cordobas (about US $3.00 ) it takes to purchase the school supplies for the year. To many of the parens is a choice of either feeding their kids or buying the books.

You can help us help others by purchasing a religious Medal of our Lady of Rocio. The Medals are made in Spain and practically impossible to purchase in the USA. We have ordered a large quantity to both to promote the Marian advocation of Our Lady of Rocio and help us raise funds for our adopted causes.

All profits from the sale of these medals will be used to purchase books for children in Leon, Nicaragua. Just $3.00 allows us to purchase school supplies for one child for an entire year. We are also asking the public in general to donate new boxes of crayolas, pencils, and other school supplies. For additional information you may visit our official website at www.elrocio.net
