Boracay Beach Condo Hotel, a flagship development of Boracay Trans Pacific Properties Inc. (developers) and Asiana Villas (land owners), has finally held its ground breaking ceremonies at Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan last February 2, 2007.

In attendance were directors of both Asiana and Boracay Trans Pacific as well as well-wishers, suppliers, architects and engineers, friends, supporters and family. Mr. Lito Cubillas of Boracay Trans Pacific Properties and Asiana directors Gary Yupangco, Esteban Tajanlangit, Mariano Araneta and Ruchellie Gelito Gadon, did the ceremonial ground-breaking (Mr. Mariano Araneta and Mr. Steve Tajanlangit are both directors of another Boracay land bankers, Boracay Property Holdings Inc. which owns the 80 Ha. Estate where Shangri-La’s 180 room spa & resort is undergoing construction).

Said to become Boracay’s most unique and stylist condo-hotel, the Boracay Beach Condo Hotel was designed by Architects Therese “Ibay” Yupangco and Gener Flancia (G. R. Flancia & Associates/Manila), who both collaborated with developers Lito Cubillas & David Jacka, co-Managing Directors of Boracay Trans Pacific Properties (owners and developers of the project), to come up with a structural and interior concept that embraces open spaces into endless blue skies and azure ocean on one side (airy balconies), and a courtyard that is made into a stunning landscape of tropical mystique on the other side (hallway).

Nestled on a tranquil stretch of land only a few minute leisurely walk to a secluded part of White Beach and just a little more to Boracay’s hippiest bars and restaurants & party place – Station 2, and a short 5 minute drive to Fairways & Bluewater Resort Golf & Country, Boracay Beach Condo Hotel will feature 90 well appointed, luxuriously cozy units. A clubhouse and infinity lap pool will compliment the condo-hotel’s five star amenities. This development will certainly make come-true anyone’s tropical dream vacation.

“Boracay Beach Condo Hotel was conceptualized to become a unique expression of hospitality design that will reflect a fusion of Asian culture and European comfort… says Lito Cubillas.

He further explained, “I was playing a round of golf at Fairways and Bluewater with Korean associates when the idea struck me that Boracay needs a new dimension of hospitality & a different linkage set-up for tourism players to attract a unique and distinct niche of international travelers….and when Steve Tajanlangit, an associate way way back offered an unbeatable location and a South Korean golf membership company agreed to lease all the rooms on a long term basis, there was no turning back… ”

David Jacka, a British expatriate based in Cebu who conspired with Mr. Cubillas from the very beginning to bring the idea into reality, says, “I had been to Boracay several times & the chance to get involved in a resort/hotel development in this island blessed with stunning natural beauty was an exciting opportunity…I added certain aspects in the general designs of the condo-hotel to make it more attractive to Europeans in general.”

Shortly after the concept was put into concrete plans - company registrations and permits were applied for and architectural/engineering plans & drawings were laid down - Mr. Paul Hewitt, a UK based business associate established an agents’ network within the UK where we now have a UK based office (Trans Pacific Philippines UK) to assist with the local market as well as act as main appointed executive officer.

As Mc Kinsey and Co. reported in a study conducted for the Department of Tourism and Aboitiz Foundation titled “ Harnessing the Tourism Growth : A Winning Formula for the Philippines” in 2002…the Philippines can and will catch up in the giant global tourism industry that is US$475 Billion (YR 2000) and growing…the Philippines is Asia’s hottest destination (declared Conde Nast TRAVELLER) and Investors are lining up to venture into the next Philippine destination”. Mc Kinsey and Company must have Boracay in their minds; and Boracay Beach Condo Hotel is surely one of the reasons why Boracay Island has become the ultimate sun, sea, sand & surf travel destination in South East Asia….
