SALT LAKE CITY – April 2007 – The Wayne Brown Institute (WBI) today announced that entrepreneurship and venture capital experts Will West, Damon Kirchmeier and Lily Langen will give presentations at its next “How to Raise Money in Utah” seminar.

This event, the latest in WBI’s rotating series of free seminars on the venture fundraising process in Utah, will be held on Wednesday April 18, 2007 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Neumont University.

“Navigating the venture capital scene unprepared for its challenges is like trying to make your way through an active minefield,” said Brad Bertoch, president of WBI. “Seemingly small mistakes can mean the difference between securing funding and ‘blowing’ the deal of a lifetime. Our aim is to arm entrepreneurs with the knowledge and contacts they need to find funding and avoid commonly made mistakes.”

Topics discussed at the event will include fundraising basics, when and how to involve service professionals and how to successfully attract venture capital. Following the individual presentations will be a question and answer session where attendees will have an opportunity to further explore issues in depth and further learn from the experts present.

“We’re grateful that Will West, Damon Kirchmeier and Lily Langen have agreed to be a part of this upcoming event,” Bertoch said. “They offer a wealth of information and invaluable experience that will benefit every attendee as they progress down the road to building their own successful organizations.”

Registration is currently available online at http://venturecapital.org/seminars.html or by calling 801-595-1141. There is no cost to attend the workshop, though attendance is limited.
