Centennial, CO – May 5, 2005 – In an effort to secure patent protection and finalize an existing business plan, Internet entrepreneur Alan Sweeney launches Web site to solicit funds for what he terms “funding to get funding.”

“Most of the start-up and raise capital ‘how-to’ information that is out there assumes that you have the financial resources to protect your idea from the beginning. Unfortunately, I don’t. I want to get the necessary protection now so that I can take this idea and sell it to investors.” Sweeney said.

Money raised by FundmyVenture.com will be used for legal fees associated with securing patent protection and to add further market research to an existing business plan.

FundMyVenture.com was developed in response to initial reactions to Sweeney’s idea. “I began to talk to people about my concept and its impact on the Internet. There is a lot of electricity and excitement around my ideas and I know I have to get protection for them now. After all, I can’t find anything else out there that is remotely like what I want to do. I anticipate that consumers and businesses alike will quickly adopt these new technologies,” he said.

Sweeney’s invention will eliminate SPAM, phishing and other illegitimate uses of email, and will ultimately change the way we all communicate on the Internet.

FundMyVenture.com will continue to collect donations through the “grant stage” which represents funding between $6,000 and $30,000. “At a minimum, we need to raise six to ten thousand dollars just to finalize the initial patent application.” he said.

Funds raised over and above this amount will be used to build a stronger business plan for the company, finalize associated investor agreements and create materials designed to attract seed, angel and eventually venture capital investment.

“I know that this is a little unconventional, but I have a big idea and I need some help. I’m not looking for a handout; I’m only looking for a little assistance to move to the next stage. Once I get these two items in place, the plan and the patent, I’ll take care of the rest; I’ll get the next stages in funding and get this thing off the ground.” he said.

When asked about the size and magnitude of his concept, Sweeney said “This thing is going to be huge—we’re talking the size of giants like Amazon.com, Google and eBay. We’re going to be building something that is as much a part of everyday life as the Internet itself.”
