Climbbybike.com elects best climber in history of cycling

In May and June, Climbbybike.com users will elect the best climber of all time.
The cycling website has made public the shortlist of climbers out of which cycling fans worldwide can nominate their favourite climber of all time. Following cyclists were selected on the five men list:
Lance Armstrong (USA), Lucien Van Impe (Belgium), Richard Virenque (France), Féderico Bahamontes (Spain) and Marco Pantani (Italy).

For the first time in cycling history, cycling fans from all over the world will together elect the best climber. This allows for an honest election, not influenced by national proud or feelings.
All voters can win nice prices, from cycling outfits over memorabilia to a vacation cheque of 500 €, issued by Euro Relais, provider of 7,000 holiday house in Europe and main sponsor of the game. All voters will also be able to follow the standings of the game day by day via a representation of the standings on the Alpe d'Huez climb.

The winning cyclist will be announced on Friday July 6th, on the evening of the start of the Tour de France. He will receive a pastel artwork representing a climber, based on climbbybike's logo. In case Marco Pantani, who died in 2004, wins the election, the artwork will be sent to the Marco's supporters.

Climbbybike.com, the website with all information on more than 7,500 climbs to cycle in Europe, recently launched its Web 2.0 version. On the website, cycling fans from all over the world can now add stories and comments about their own cycling trips to the website. Through a rating system, visitors can judge the difficulty of all of the 7672 climbs. The website is available in French, German and Dutch.
