Simon Pearce Hosts A Shop Night To Support AIDS LifeCycle

May 02, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Lifestyle News
The Simon Pearce store on Fillmore Street will host a Shop Night on May 23rd to support AIDS LifeCycle’s effort in the fight against HIV & AIDS. A portion of the proceeds generated that evening will benefit founders of this annual event: the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.

In addition to supporting AIDS LifeCycle and its cause, Christine Beliveau, the Simon Pearce Store Manager, wished to commemorate her recently departed friend, Alexander Bower, and his passion for AIDS LifeCycle. “Cycling was Alex's most recent passion, enhanced by his participation in the fundraising event AIDS LifeCycle, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to L.A.,” (San Francisco Chronicle, February 13th, 2007). Christine adds, “I knew that I could never get in shape to actually do the LifeCycle ride, so I decided that since I am good at hosting parties and shopping, why not do what I can in our store.”

This year, AIDS LifeCycle will take place from June 3rd-9th. Cyclists and volunteers will travel 545 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles. Shoppers are invited to support this cause by attending the Shop Night at Simon Pearce:

About AIDS LifeCycle:
AIDS LifeCycle is the official cycling event of the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. This annual event is about HIV, AIDS and raising money to help the beneficiaries continue to provide the critical services and education needed to meet the growing needs of our community. It also increases awareness and knowledge about HIV/AIDS among participants, their donors and the general public while addressing the widespread misperception that HIV and AIDS are no longer a problem—in fact more people are living with HIV & AIDS today than ever before, which means a much greater need for services.
