New Cisco® Authorized CCNA® 2-5-2 Bootcamp Training Modules Better Prepare Students for the CCNA® Exam

Cisco® Certified Training Center Network Learning Institute (NLI) (http://www.networklearninginstitute.com) has launched a new Cisco® CCNA® Bootcamp program designed to give students the best possible chance of passing the Cisco® CCNA® Certification.

The new program, called the 2-5-2 program, gives Cisco® Bootcamp participants the option of adding additional customized learning ‘modules’ before or after the standard CCNA® Bootcamp training.

The ‘2-5-2’ in the program’s title represents how NLI groups the CCNA® training modules. The two day learning module before the standard Bootcamp training is 100% focused on Cisco® INTRO® Training. Subnetting, a concept covered in detail in INTRO training, is incorporated into nearly 25% of the questions on the Cisco® CCNA® exam, yet is not covered in enough detail in most standard CCNA® Bootcamp training programs.

“What we find is that a lot of people don’t have the proper foundation to be successful in the five day program. Still, we’re seeing many programs that just sign these folks up and let them be unsuccessful. I’m just not comfortable with doing that,” says Mike Cleff, President of Network Learning Institute.

Cleff says that not everyone will need the two-day INTRO training module, but for those that do, the additional training can mean the difference between passing and failing the CCNA® Certification exam. “We do assessments to find out if individuals need the INTRO training. There are certain technologies that students should know well before beginning the standard Bootcamp, if trainees have these skills mastered, they can opt to attend only the five day portion of the Bootcamp” he says.

The typical Cisco® CCNA® boot camp requires that students should be very familiar with networking topics such as TCP/IP, IP configuration, peer-to-peer networking, subnetting, building a routing table and other network protocols, standards and architecture. This is information that is covered in the INTRO portion of CCNA® training.

“Unfortunately too many students are being signed up to the 5 day CCNA® Bootcamp that do not have this prerequisite information. What the camps do to compensate for this lack of prerequisite knowledge is to teach INTRO over 2 days and ICND over 3 days. ICND, the more difficult portion of CCNA® training, has too little time devoted to it plus the student only has 5 days to absorb all of the INTRO material,” explains Cleff.

Cleff says that NLI’s 2+5+2 format eliminates this problem. The first two (2) days are solely dedicated to INTRO training and the next five (5) days are dedicated to ICND training. During the ICND training there is now ample time to incorporate INTRO concepts into the ICND labs and lectures.

An optional two (2) day mentoring package is added at the end of the Bootcamp. These two days are designed for students who feel they need additional individualized training time with an instructor or more practice in the Institute’s Cisco® lab. Students can add this option on when signing up for training, or opt to add the weekend training module after the Bootcamp depending on their level of preparedness for the exam.

“We don’t have a one-size-fits-all solution – we’re not a cookie-cutter operation - because one type of training doesn’t meet the needs of every person that comes through our doors. Providing a one-size-fits-all solution means that some people will fall through the cracks when they didn’t need to. Our goal is to customize a Bootcamp that fits the needs of every one of our trainees,” says Cleff.
