World of Warcraft gold farmers get a price comparison site, MMOBUX

Chengdu, May 08 – MMOBUX launches a price comparison site for on-line game currency vendors. Visitors of the website at www.mmobux.com can compare prices between more than 50 different shops and research the background of individual vendors.

The on-line game currency market has grown tremendously over the last few years. However, little was done so far to add transparency to this industry dealing in the video game equivalent of monopoly money. MMOBUX introduces the popular concept of price comparison sites to this specific niche by listing prices and background information for currency sellers worldwide, including IGE, Mogs and Gamepal.

Currently in beta stage, MMOBUX features already more than 80,000 prices for the on-line game World of Warcraft alone. While all sellers provide the same digital currency, prices vary a lot with the most expensive shops charging more than three time as much than moderately priced sellers.

The lack of a community for this controversial market is another need MMOBUX is addressing. By offering a forum for buyers and sellers of sought-after WoW gold, it brings discussions and experiences to the eye of the public that used to be kept behind closed doors. Larger companies that run sites like EZGaming, Team VIP or Enotts already have made a name for themselves in the industry. However, little is known about the operations and background of new upstart and offshore based “gold farmers”.

At this point MMOBUX limits itself to price comparison, seller reports and discussion forums. However, new services for buyers and sellers that will help to add transparency and trust to the unregulated market are already in development. Tools like seller ratings, in-depth reviews and shop verifications will cater to the widespread demand for more security in on-line transactions.

About one-third of players of on-line games are interested in purchasing currency like gold, Adena, Gil or Kamas. With World of Warcraft alone featuring a subscriber base of more than 8 million players, MMOBUX has the ambitious goal of reaching up to 5 million users worldwide with its service.

MMOBUX launched in April 2007 and is adding new shops and wow gold prices on a daily basis. It plans to expand its current coverage of World of Warcraft EU and US servers to include all major MMORPGs. Managed by a team of industry veterans it caters to buyers, sellers and researchers in the so-called real-money trading (or RMT) market.
