Kisscafe recently launched a new online dating and networking website using Ajax and Ruby on Rails based features that aid in the functionality and efficiency of the site. Multiple features have been created to eliminate excess steps in profile editing and photo uploading, with particular attention paid to accessibility for both computer savvy and beginner users. Kisscafe's design and content facilitate discussion between members, with emphasis on both dating and social issues, particularly those concerning the environment. Kisscafe membership is free for all users.

Kisscafe offers editing and navigation features such as embedding videos into blogs, photo uploading, sorting, and editing, and Edit in Place - Setting Profile Modifications. Edit in Place is a Kissacafe feature that employs an instantaneous request-response time, allowing changes to be applied without needing to reload information on the server. Similaraly, features of Eureka, the question and answer forum, prompts the system to immediately display suggestions and related information while users are simultaneously filling in the question fields.

Multiple member content management features have also been included, to assist members in tracking their activities and organizing their contacts on the site. Members' content management uses prototype and yahoo ui libraries as well as dojo storage. The Kisscafe search function allows quick client side storage for immediate recollection of past search results. Similar to the Eureka and Edit In Place features, the Kisscafe mail system prompts immediate recipient suggestions while members are addressing their mail.

Other site features, such as uploading and editing photos, and embedding videos into personal blogs, enable information and media sharing between members. RSS feeds are also used throughout the site for members that wish to be regularly updated on specific information. Launched alongside the web version of the site is a mobile feature rich version of the site using XHTML and WCSS standards, enabling users to check their inbox, new friends, winks, suggested users and weather while away from the computer. Nokia Widsets have also been implemented for RSS of important information available on the site.

The features of Kisscafe's online dating service enable interactions between the site and the user, as well as between other Kisscafe members. In addition to allowing members to connect with each other through the site, it assists with communication of information. With the collaborative news section to be launched shortly, blogs, and the Eureka section, members are able to share images, videos, and information with each other. “We wanted to offer people an online dating site that would make it easy and fun for them to meet new people,” says co-founder and Marketing Manager Pete O'Riley “while also giving our members a place to become involved in positive discussions and learn more about important issues”. As most of the site content and articles in the Kisscafe News section reflect, Kisscafe's focus is on environmental and global issues.
