PLANIT TO LAUNCH MATURE MARKET DIVISION

Baltimore, Md – May 2007 – Planit, the Baltimore-based marketing communications agency, announced today that on July 1, it will launch a new mature market division. The division will focus on research, strategy, ideation and creative execution to help organizations connect more strongly and effectively with consumers who are 50 plus.

According to Planit co-founder and President, Matt Doud, many companies and organizations are looking for guidance on how to best reach this broad demographic, which includes baby boomers — a group with enormous spending power, and every intention to continue living life fully as they age.

"The first wave of baby boomers may have turned 60, but research shows they aren't planning to retire quietly," said Doud. "They control between 75 and 80 percent of spending in the US, but only 25 percent of marketing dollars are spent on them."

"Not surprising, research shows they feel ignored; businesses are in effect ignoring what could be their most attractive targets. This is why we're launching this division."

The division will draw on expertise from both inside and outside the agency, while also conducting and producing its own ongoing research on trends and forecasts pertaining to the baby boomer demographic, not least how to effectively reach them through new media vehicles.

"When it comes to the internet, as well as new media technologies, mature consumers are taking hold — and at a growing pace. Fifty plus adults are among the fastest growing group of Internet users," said Doud. "Planit's strong new media department certainly gives us a strategic advantage in communicating with this dynamic demographic."

Among Planit's new and existing clients that will fall under the new division upon launch are Erickson Retirement Communities, Erickson School at UMBC and XLHealth.
