Fairfield, CT - (July 7, 2004) – Oregon Scientific, Inc. was the big winner at The 9th Annual Mattel, Inc. Barbie Consumer Products' awards party taking home the honors of 2003 Licensee of the Year and Outstanding Marketing Support.

Steve Jackson, Executive Vice President of Oregon Scientific, said, "It is a great honor to be recognized for the high standards and quality of product and service we strive to achieve at Oregon Scientific. To be acknowledged in two very different areas is a tremendous honor for the company.'

For the second year in a row, Oregon Scientific, Inc. took home Mattel's award for Barbie Consumer Products Licensee of the Year. The honor is in recognition of the company's efforts to bring the Barbie brand into the electronic learning arena. The company was singled out as this year's winner from more than 100 domestic licensees of the Barbie brand. The Oregon Scientific Barbie™ B-Book™ learning laptop has been the company's best-selling item for more than three years and is one of the nation's top selling girl's electronic learning aid.

In addition, the company also received the prestigious Outstanding Marketing Support award for going beyond what is required to support Mattel brands with the successful execution of aggressive retail and consumer marketing campaigns. Oregon Scientific received the award for participating in a number of marketing initiatives, including a new approach to target children in television advertising for an educational product, developing new interactive retail displays, publishing in major account circulars, involvement in cross sell promotions, and placements in several holiday gift guides and wish list books, among other programs.

The awards were presented to Oregon Scientific earlier this month at a special party held by Mattel during the International Licensing Show in New York City.

In Oregon Scientific's first year as a Mattel licensee for Barbie™ electronic learning products, the company received the "Best Hardlines Design and Execution Award' for outstanding achievement in design and sales from Mattel, Inc.'s Barbie Consumer Products.

This year, Oregon Scientific launches the new Barbie™ My First Dictionary interactive book (MSRP $34.99, for ages 3 and up), which is packed with over 500 educationally-certified curriculum words and features colorful illustrations and photos. "The product is a perfect extension to our line of learning products. It allows a fun way to learn definitions and pronunciation of words with a lot of encouragement and interaction with Barbie®,' Jackson explained.

Oregon Scientific has received more than 12 different honors by different parenting and toy industry organizations in recognition of its innovative, outstanding learning elements and product design.
