Identity Thieves Targets AOL Subscribers

July 03, 2004 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Los Angeles, CA – Last Thursday, AOL announced the arrest of one of its software designers for the theft of the database of its 92 million subscribers. This list was sold to an owner of an online gambling business and other spammers.

The Federal Trade Commission reports that nearly one in eight U.S. adults became victims to identity theft in the past five years. In the year 2002, identity theft cost consumers $5 billion in out-of-pocket expenses to individuals.

"Its no secret that identity thieves will specifically target AOL subscribers,' said Richard M. Krawczyk, Ph.D., author of the #1 bestselling book Financial Aerobics: How to Get Your Finances into Shape (Cavalier Publishing). "However, there are very simple ways to identify such thieves.'

Dr. Richard will show your listeners how to:
• Determine if they have been targeted by someone using the AOL database.
• What NOT to do if targeted
• What to do if targeted

Since exposing the From Russia with Love PayPal/Ebay ecommerce scam last December, Dr. Richard has quickly become known as an authority in the field of identity theft.
