WEBROOT CELEBRATES ANOTHER QUARTER OF RECORD GROWTH

May 17, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
BOULDER, Colo., May 2007 – Webroot Software, Inc., a leading provider of security software for the consumer, enterprise and SMB markets, announced today that it posted another record quarter. Company growth was led by improved sales in the enterprise, from channel sales, at retail and from customer support making the third quarter in fiscal 2007 its largest ever.

“Our continued success reflects the market’s demand for superior security solutions,” said Peter Watkins, CEO, Webroot Software. “Our ability to deliver the highest-rated products, backed by world-class support, is driving our growth.”

A key driver in the record quarter was the company’s double digit growth in its enterprise sales globally. The demand for its enterprise security solutions was reaffirmed when Webroot Spy Sweeper® Enterprise 3.0 was named "Best Anti-Malware Solution" in the Reader's Trust category, which followed winning the "Best Anti-Spyware of 2006" awarded in December by the editors of SC Magazine. The SC Magazine Award is the leading information security awards program; it showcases the best products, services and professionals in the industry. Additionally, SearchWindowsSecurity.com selected Webroot Anti-X Security Product of the Year 2006.

"Webroot Spy Sweeper Enterprise 3.0 takes home the Gold Award in the Anti-X category after it impressed judges as an antispyware tool, largely because of Webroot Software's dedication to spyware research," said the editors of SearchWindowsSecurity.com.

Supporting the company’s enterprise growth is its thriving Channel Edge Partner Program – a comprehensive program that offers partners an unrivaled lineup of training tools, ROI-driven marketing materials, and technical and sales support – continued to gain in size and recognition. The program recruited 155 new Channel Edge partners, growing at 125 percent quarter over quarter. In addition, CRN Magazine recognized the Channel Edge Partner Program when it was named to the CRN “Channel Bestsellers List”. The CRN Channel Bestsellers recognize the most popular technology products being sold through the channel.

To further support its channel growth, the company leveraged its relationship with Ingram Micro Inc., the world’s largest technology distributor, by introducing the Webroot® System Builder Program. This exclusive program allows solution providers who build custom desktop and notebook computer systems to purchase Webroot software licenses in bulk from Ingram Micro.

The introduction of compatible versions of Webroot’s award–winning Internet security solutions with the Windows Vista™ Operating System also contributed to the company’s impressive retail growth in 2007. Users of Webroot Spy Sweeper®, Webroot Spy Sweeper® with AntiVirus and Webroot Child Safe® were given access to free upgrades to the Vista–compatible versions of their software.

"Windows Vista offers users a new kind of online experience with a variety of exciting new features, services and capabilities. However, according to our Threat Research Team and their exhaustive testing, it is far more effective for Vista users to rely on Webroot for the broadest and most up-to-date spyware and malware protection,” said Mike Irwin, COO of Webroot Software. “By offering Vista–supported versions of our award–winning Internet security software, we can provide our users with the assurance that their new operating systems are protected by the most advanced technologies."

The delivery of Vista-compatible products, as well as a broadening security footprint, augured well in the retail segment over the past quarter. NPD retail technology data showed Webroot led all other vendors in security product sales including, Symantec and McAfee by 73 percent. Much of this success can also be attributed to a thriving antivirus business. Quarter over quarter, the company almost doubled its antivirus sales and continues to see strong incremental growth. By integrating its market-leading antispyware technology with Sophos’ award-winning antivirus, Webroot has created an unparalleled anti-malware solution that’s ideal for consumers and businesses.

Finally, much of Webroot's success as a security provider can be directly attributed to its long-term commitment to exceptional customer service and support. To further deliver on that commitment, the company introduced Webroot PeakSupport™ program, a new customer support program designed specifically to help businesses of all sizes achieve optimal system performance and superior protection with Spy Sweeper® Enterprise and Webroot® SME Security.
