Washington, D.C. (PRLEAP) May 26, 2007 - The Washington Marriott, located in the fashionable West End district, at the crossroads of Foggy Bottom, Dupont Circle and historic Georgetown, recently completed phase one of a $14 million renovation and repositioning. Phase one consisted of a $6 million enhancement of all guest rooms and hotel suites, the lobby, and the Atrium restaurant and bar. Phase two, scheduled to be completed in Winter 2007, will include an executive wing of the hotel with a private elevator, and an addition of 53 guest rooms, making a total of 471 guestrooms in the hotel. Each guestroom in the executive wing will feature 400 square feet per room and upgraded amenities including wireless Internet.

“We’re very excited to unveil the new look and feel of this hotel,” said Marty Roth, general manager, Washington Marriott. “This perfect blend of luxurious comfort, style, and state-of-the-art technology is underscored by the tradition of service that has made Marriott a leader in the lodging industry.”

The new look of the cutting-edge guest rooms, with its innovative technology, is clean and crisp with simple forms, straight lines and uncluttered surfaces. Contemporary residential design and warm colors look and feel like home. All guest rooms and suites feature Marriott’s Revive® bedding with plusher mattresses, softer linens and more pillows. Replacing the traditional hotel bedspread is a down comforter nestled inside sheeted duvets, which will be freshly laundered for each new guest. The stylized bedding features 300-thread-count, cotton-rich, white top and fitted bottom sheets and is accented with euro shams, a decorative bed scarf and bolster.

All rooms come equipped with a 32-inch LCD high-definition LG® television and Marriott’s newly premiered, high tech plug-in panel that provides guests with multi-tasking abilities through versatile multimedia usage. For example, the screen can be split so guests can watch TV while checking e-mail or researching on the Internet from their own laptop. Or, they can relieve stress by playing video games while listening to their iPod or MP3 players at the same time. Guests can even plug-in their digital cameras and personal DVD players to preview photos. Other in-room amenities include Bath & Body Works® Energizing Aromatherapy products, coffee maker, iron with ironing board, and HDTV offering 64 television channels.

The new design of the “great room” style lobby, which provides an open environment with a variety of seating and meeting areas, including a circular meeting space with Internet access, creates an upscale and urban atmosphere for social business and networking. Bright, rich colors, clean lines accented by cherry wood columns, millwork and contemporary artwork define the fresh new look.

The lobby bar, Court Lounge, features 32” HD televisions and serves up creative cocktails, an extensive wine list and bar menu of comfort food items such as Slider Cheeseburgers, Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes, and Buffalo Chicken Wings with Ashanti and blue cheese sauce. The Atrium restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and features Executive Chef David Nvodjo’s signature dishes, such as Miso Glazed Salmon with Sesame Ginger Beurre Blanc and Barbeque Back Ribs.

The Washington Marriott is situated at 1221 22nd Street, Northwest Washington, D.C., and is within walking distance of historic Georgetown, Dupont Circle and near the Foggy Bottom Metro Station on the blue and orange lines.
