LOCAL FIREFIGHTERS FILL-THE-BOOT IN ROSE PARADE

PORTLAND, Ore., June 2007—Local firefighters will trek in front of the Rose Festival’s Grand Floral Parade on Saturday, June 9 to support the local chapters of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The firefighters are participating in MDA’s annual Fill-the-Boot drive. The firefighters and local children living with a neuromuscular disease will travel the parade route and ask parade-goers to drop donations into fire boots to support MDA.

Last year, members of the Portland Fire Department raised over $7,000 to support local services such as, clinics, support groups, and MDA Summer Camp for children confined to a wheelchair or with limited mobility. For over 50 years, the International Association of Firefighters has shown unwavering support for MDA. Firefighters are the longest-standing supporters of MDA.
