Seattle Child Photographer Who Bans, “Say Cheese,” Wins Children’s Photography Award

June 4, 2007 (Seattle/Edmonds) – “Seattle’s Child” recently named Heather Quintans the Golden Bootie Award winner for Seattle’s Favorite Children’s Photographer. According to the magazine’s website, Quintans “won the hearts of our parents with her black and white photography. Her custom portraits capture the spirit of your child… .”

Quintans approaches children’s photography as lifestyle portraiture, to capture the natural playfulness of a child and family. Her contemporary style continues to be popular with parents in Seattle and on the Eastside, as evidenced by another reader’s poll award from Parentmap Magazine, in 2005.

“Children don’t need to be told how to smile. I allow the kids to be kids and also become one myself. Their personality will shine through if you allow it. “ ‘Say cheese!’ is banned from my studio,” says Quintans.

Quintans is opening a new studio with fellow photographer Elisha Rain in the SODO District. It has plenty of natural light to help her subjects look their best, despite the Northwest winters. The grand opening will take place Saturday, June 9th, from 2-4 pm at 85 Atlantic Street in Seattle. Parents and their children are welcome to tour the new space.

The Golden Bootie Award is based on a reader’s poll of over 50,000 readers of “Seattle’s Child” from the Seattle, Eastside and surrounding area.
