The Bands For Freedom Foundation will make a $100,000 donation to the Armed Forces Relief Trust (AFRT) at the Washington gala banquet of the TechNet International 2005 tradeshow being held Tuesday May 17, 2005 at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center.

Steve Cloward, chief executive officer of the Bands For Freedom Foundation, will present the check to Admiral Charles S. Abbot (Ret.), head of the Naval-Marine Relief Society, during the gala which is kicking off the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association’s TechNet International 2005 show.

The association is holding its annual technology exposition/convention at the Washington, D.C. Convention Center and features Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, as the banner speaker, as well as a sold-out concert with the Charlie Daniels Band. The check presentation will be held on the evening of Tuesday, May 17 in Exhibit Hall B just prior to the concert.

“When we were first introduced to the AFRT and the great work they do for the men and women of the U.S. military, we knew we had to find a way to help them reach their goals,” said Steve Cloward, CEO of the Bands For Freedom Foundation. “It has been wonderful to see the unified response of so many patriotic citizens from all over the country.”

The AFRT seeks to help soldiers and their families by helping them meet their basic monetary needs. The majority of the assistance given by the AFRT goes to help soldiers-in-crisis who have faced major medical emergencies either themselves or with a family member.

The Bands For Freedom Foundation recognizes this urgent need to support troops, and has become a chief supporter of the AFRT. It donates 100 percent (after manufacturing and administrative costs) of the revenue it receives from sales of its patriotic silicone wristbands to support the U.S. troops via the AFRT. This $100,000 donation brings its AFRT donation total to more than $200,000 since December 2004.

The wristbands come in both youth and adult sizes and can be purchased at www.bandsforfreedom.com. Bands For Freedom wristbands are similar to those made popular by the Lance Armstrong Wear Yellow Live Strong Foundation. These patriotic silicone wristbands were created to bolster support for the war on terror and U.S. troops who sacrifice for freedom.
