The 2007 Santa Fe Writers Conference convenes June 18 - 23; draws award-winning faculty from across the USA.

Santa Fe, NM—June 2007——- The 23rd annual Santa Fe Writers Conference, sponsored by the Southwest Literary Center of Recursos de Santa Fe, will take place from June 18 to June 23, 2007, at the Hotel St. Francis in downtown Santa Fe.

Distinguished faculty and guests include Page Lambert, Kate Braverman, Stephanie Elizondo Griest, Allison Hedge Coke, Lindsay Ahl, Donald Levering, Carol Franco, Barbara Mayfield and publishers of the New Mexico Book Association. The conference director is Jenice Gharib, director of the Southwest Literary Center of Recursos de Santa Fe.

The conference includes six days of workshops, afternoon talks and free public readings every evening. Conference workshops are offered in fiction, creative nonfiction, travel/memoir and poetry. Workshops are limited to 12 participants each.

The conference fee is $525 and includes workshops, afternoon talks, private conferences and evening readings. Admission to the afternoon talks is $7 for non-conference participants. Evening readings are free and open to the public.

ABOUT THE FACULTY
Page Lambert (Fiction/Creative Nonfiction), who leads River Writing Journeys for Women around the West, is the author of the best-selling memoir In Search of Kinship. “In Search of Kinship is a book of wisdom,” wrote Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods. “It reveals the intricate and powerful influence of land on human character, and suggests the importance of finding, and protecting, one’s true and special place.” She is also the author of the novel Shifting Stars, a finalist for the Mountains and Plains Bookseller’s Award. Recipient of 2 literary fellowships, Lambert’s work is featured in 20 different literary anthologies including the 2007 releases Home Land and Open Range.

Kate Braverman (Fiction) is an experimental writer of a singular and ruthless breed. She is a poet, short fiction writer, essayist and author of novels, Lithium for Medea, Palm Latitudes, Wonders of the West, and The Incantation of Frida K. Her Graywolf Prize winning memoir, Frantic Transmissions to and From Los Angeles: An Accidental Memoir, was published in February 2006. Kate recently won the Pushcart Prize for her short story, “Cocktail Hour.”

Allison Hedge Coke’s (Poetry) poetry books include Blood Run, Off-Season City Pipe, Dog Road Woman and Rock, Ghost, Willow, Deer. “Hedge Coke unites American working-class experience with her Cherokee heritage in a sinewy lyricism where exhaustion coexists with the exultant.” — The Pulse of the Twin Cities

Stephanie Elizondo Griest (Travel/Memoir) is the author of the award-winning memoir Around the Bloc: My Life in Moscow, Beijing, and Havana and the recently released 100 Places Every Woman Should Go. “Around the Bloc is not only superb travel writing, it is also a beautifully written story of self discovery.” — New York Times Book Review
