ChicagLikes.com: Social Media and Contests for Chicago

June 11, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
Chicago finally has its own social media site, with a twist.

ChicagoLikes.com is city news and restaurant reviews crossed with the social bookmarking aspects of a site like digg.com. The aim is to give Chicagoans an outlet and a place where they can choose the news and information they want to see. On top of that, there is a restaurant news section where users and participants can find, comment on, and tell others about restaurant specials, bar specials, new places to eat, and fun ideas for going out.

The twist you're waiting for comes in the form of the ChicagoLikes! contests.

Currently there are two contests running where creative Chicagoans can submit their favorite photos and essays about the city for a chance to be published by ChicagoLikes.com in two books that will be available this fall at the conclusion of the contests.

Using the revolutionary Thirds Model, particpants will share in the profits and one third of the proceeds will go to charities working to benefit the city.

The contests run until September 21, 2007 and multiple picture submissions are encouraged. Anyone with a desire to see their name in lights and do some good for the city they love at the same time should visit ChicagoLikes.com for more information.
