Gail Z. Martin, author of The Chronicles of the Necromancer fantasy adventure series, will host a global online event on June 21 to offer readers a sneak peek at her upcoming novel, The Blood King.

June 21 is the Summer Solstice. That date, called the Hawthorn Moon in Martin’s first novel The Summoner, is the dramatic climax on which a cataclysmic magical working must be stopped.

In addition to SolarisBooks.com and ChroniclesOfTheNecromancer.com, a number of science fiction/fantasy sites in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia will be participating. Site partners include SolarisBooks.com (UK) and ChroniclesOfTheNecromancer.com, Bookloons.com (Canada), FantasyHotlist.Blogspot.com (Canada), DarkAnimus.com (Australia), InfinityPlus.com and SFSignal.com.

In honor of the Hawthorn Moon, Martin and her publisher Solaris Books, along with key science fiction/fantasy web sites in the U.S., U.K., Canada and Australia, will roll out excerpts from The Blood King, a first look at the new novel’s cover art by artist Michael Komarck, web audio of the author reading from the new book, and a live chat with Martin via AOL and MSN instant messenger. Special podcast interviews and a giveaway contest add excitement. Readers can email questions in advance for Martin to answer either as herself or in character as some of the book’s major players.

The Blood King will be released in February, 2008. Solaris Books is a UK-based fantasy and science fiction imprint from BL Publishing, the publishing division of industry-leading tabletop games company, Games Workshop. Learn more at www.ChroniclesOfTheNecromancer.com.
