WESTFORD, MA (June 15, 2007) – Vertilon Corporation (http://www.vertilon.com) today announced that it has launched the PhotoniQ IQSP580 thirty-two channel photomultiplier tube data acquisition system. Optimized for very high speed confocal microscopy and fluorescence detection applications, the IQSP580 achieves trigger rates approaching one megahertz on all input channels. Also known as a charge acquisition system, the IQSP580 interfaces to multi-anode PMTs, avalanche photodiode arrays, and other types of multi-element optical sensors through a sensor interface board. With a dynamic range of 84dB and single photon sensitivity, the IQSP580 simultaneously acquires charge signals across all thirty-two input channels and transfers the resulting data to a PC through a high speed USB connection.

Data can be displayed on the PC using an included graphical user interface or streamed to the user’s real-time custom software application. Other than for speed and dynamic range, the IQSP580 is identical in functionality, features, and performance to the IQSP480 which is already in production. “We introduced the IQSP580 as a complementary product to the IQSP480,” said Vincent Palermo, President and Founder of Vertilon. “Many of our customers wanted the features of the IQSP480 but needed to capture data at much higher speeds. This requirement is particularly important in applications such as confocal microscopy where users need to collect million pixel images across thirty-two spectral channels within a few seconds.” Other applications for the IQSP580 include flow cytometry, bioaerosol detection, and high speed particle analysis.

Vertilon also offers several compatible sensor interface boards for the more commonly available multi-anode photomultiplier tubes and avalanche photodiode arrays.

About Vertilon Corporation
