The Northwestern Vermont Board of REALTORS® (NVBR) held their Annual ROTY Awards at the Doubletree Hotel in South Burlington. The festivities included the presentation of awards to three Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty Associates.

Leslee MacKenzie, President/Owner of Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty, has been named the 2007 REALTOR® of the Year. This prestigious award honors an individual who best exemplifies the professional qualities of a REALTOR®, as well as outstanding leadership and service in civic, community and charitable causes. “This is our association’s highest honor,” said Kathleen Sweeten, NVBR executive vice president. “Since 1964, NVBR has honored individuals whose leadership in their community and their profession is unparalleled. Leslee has demonstrated these qualifications as well as a commitment to the high standards of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics.”

Each year, the Northwestern Vermont Board of REALTORS® (NVBR) also recognizes a newcomer to the REALTOR® profession who demonstrates enthusiasm, leadership and professionalism in their career and their community. This year’s Rookie of the Year is Meg Handler of Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty. As a horse owner and enthusiast, Meg specializes in the location and evaluation of equine properties. From the beginning of her career, Meg pledged to donate 10 percent of her profits to the Vermont Land Trust to help preserve the rural character and natural beauty of Vermont. It exemplifies her love of the outdoors and desire to preserve Vermont’s natural landscape. Meg is the first & only individual to give a gift to the organization this way.

NVBR also presented the 2007 Distinguished Service Award to Sonja Stevens of Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman Realty. “This is the first year that NVBR has presented a Distinguished Service Award,” said Kathleen Sweeten, executive vice president of NVBR. “The association felt it was important to recognize the dedication of individual REALTORS® who have worked hard to advance their careers and the careers of others, and who have been involved in improving the quality of life in our communities.” Sonja has served in numerous professional leadership roles on a local, state and national level. She has been a licensed Realtor® since 1986.

Also honored were Fred Peet of Law Offices of Fred V Peet, as NVBR Affiliate Member of the Year and Jim Cross of RE/MAX North Professionals, with the Good Neighbor Award for his volunteerism and leadership in the community.
