Bothell, WA — June 18, 2007 — Scotsman Guide, the leading resource for mortgage originators, has announced that it recently won a national design award for an article spread in the magazine. In the Society of Publication Designers' (SPD) 42nd Annual Competition, Scotsman Guide received a Merit Award in its Best Design: Spread/Single Page category.

The award-winning spread appeared in Scotsman Guide's September 2006 residential edition for "Groom to Move," an article on mortgage subservicing by Sammy J. Long of GMAC Mortgage Corp.

Scotsman Guide graphic artist Rich Kim designed the spread, which included an illustration by contributing illustrator Keith Negley. Deb Choat, Scotsman Guide’s marketing manager and former production manager, oversaw the design of the feature.

The spread will appear in the SPD's 42nd Publication Design Annual, which will feature all award-winning magazine designs and illustrations from 2006. The annual will be available for purchase later this year.

SPD was founded in 1965 and is an organization that addresses the concerns of editorial art directors in all media. The society "encourages artistic excellence by judging the work of thousands of design professionals in the United States and abroad" annually. Its annual design competition recognizes the best in editorial design.

Founded in 1984, Scotsman Publishing Inc. publishes a residential edition and a commercial edition of Scotsman Guide, as well as other services at scotsmanguide.com. Scotsman Guide is the leading resource for mortgage originators, connecting mortgage brokers with wholesale lenders. The most recent Wholesale Access Mortgage Brokers’ Survey found that more than 65 percent of mortgage brokers in the country read Scotsman Guide — more than any other publication in the industry.
