LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, June 21, 2007
Opened in June 2007, The Spa and Health Club at the five-star deluxe Landmark London hotel is set to become one of the leading destination spas in the Capital.

Following a £2 million spend, the exclusive spa offers a contemporary and luxurious environment in which to relax and be pampered. The Landmark Spa is complete with a 15-metre semi-ozone swimming pool, a glass-walled poolside Klafs sanarium, menthol and sandalwood showers, steam rooms, a whirlpool, plus lavish treatment rooms and a state-of-the-art gymnasium.

Throughout the Landmark Spa, Proof Consultancy has used feature lighting, acres of glass and simple, natural materials to create a tranquil and elegant space.

The reception desk is made from a white stone, with cream Riven Ture tiles on the floor. Behind the reception, a padded wall of faux horse-hair fabric in stripes of muted, simple greys and olives makes a contemporary statement. The corridor which leads to the treatment rooms is also clad in the same padded fabric so that the doors to the four treatment rooms are hidden from view.

A full range of treatments including massages and facials are available for both hotel and external guests. Following their treatments, guests can indulge in the relaxation area where iPods are provided. With a procession of four relaxation loungers, seasonal fruits and complimentary drinks, this area is an oasis of calm.

On entering the poolside through a glass corridor, a major feature is the glass-walled poolside Klafs sanarium, which offers a gentle heat experience combining low temperature and humidity infused with aromatic essences. The sanarium operates at a temperature of 60ºC with 10–15% humidity, creating an environment in which to relax with a climate that is gentle on the cardiovascular system. This form of heat is particularly recommended for those with fragile skin or an intolerance to extreme heat forms. In the far corner of the pool area is a large whirlpool with a back massaging jet of water.

From a design perspective, the focal point at the poolside is the rear wall which is recessed, clad with limestone, and flooded with light to give a striking backdrop to the pool. The pool area is modern with clean lines, while the ceiling over the pool features solid timber slats in a contemporary Japanese style.

Dedon rattan spa furniture is featured in the lounge area and along the poolside, while the Klafs steam rooms, which are renowned as the best in the world, are located in the ladies and gentlemen’s changing rooms. Object d’art is also featured within the spa.

To assure an exclusive environment, the Landmark Spa Club has been created for members only. Day membership includes full use of the swimming pool, steam rooms, fitness studio and sanarium and is priced at £30 per adult, and £10 for guests staying at The Landmark London Hotel.

As in all areas of The Landmark London, the Spa and Health Club will provide friendly, efficient and approachable service from its highly trained staff.
