Marilyn Eiland and Mark Woodroof, partners with Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors, have announced the opening of the company’s new office on Galveston’s East End at 823 Broadway.

“We are excited about our new East End office, because it gives us a significant presence in this growing market area,” said Kelly Kelley, who, along with Gary Greene, manages the Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors Galveston operations.

Kelley said that the new office gives the company a larger stake in the single-family residential market, as well as multi-family properties and the growing number of resort properties on the East End. “The office is close to the University of Texas Medical Branch and the new developments on East Beach,” said Kelley.

In less than two years, Prudential Gary Greene, Realtors has built a commanding presence in the popular Galveston area. In addition to the East End office, the company has offices at Pirates Beach, Tiki Island, and an affiliate office in the Bolivar-Crystal Beach area.

Sales professionals working at the new East End office include Brad Belt; Maria Lopez-Kovich; Jan McGovern; Gina Rosen, who also serves as career development director; and Jan Wilden. Also, the Joni Hall Team, a Prudential Chairman’s Circle Gold Award-winner, has made the new office its base of operations. The team includes Joni Hall, Pam Goff and Elizabeth Overton.

While Galveston is a haven for retirees who choose the area for their primary residence, there is a new demographic that is contributing to the growth. “We’re seeing many young professionals and families who are buying second homes, with plans to retire here later,” said Kelley. “They see it as a great investment.”

Greene said that they are handling a number of condominium projects and that condominiums are going to be very big in Galveston from now on. “Buyers include investors, those seeking permanent residence in the area, retirees, and folks who have decided to enjoy the pleasures of a second home,” said Greene.

“Galveston didn’t have much to offer 10 years ago. Now we’ve got 20-30 excellent restaurants, the historic opera house that draws a large crowd, and The Strand that is extremely popular for shopping,” said Greene. “Galveston is growing up, and there are more things for more people.”
