IRVINE, CA — Howard Technology Solutions, formerly known as Howard Computers, has signed an agreement to license FarStone system recovery software. Rebranded as "LifeGuard," DriveClone System Recovery (www.farstone.com/partner/driveclone-sr.htm) will be installed on Howard computers running Windows Vista or XP.

Howard's partnership with FarStone began in 2005. "We are happy to continue working with FarStone on the latest version of LifeGuard," said Bill Archer, Howard's Vice President of Purchasing. "DriveClone System Recovery will reduce support costs for our next-generation systems."

DriveClone System Recovery is installed on Howard computers through command line prompts. It requires no change in the company's manufacturing environment.

The software gives customers the ability to recover lost data and restore damaged computer systems, and to back up their hard drives with a complete external disk image. For Howard, this technical support "self-service" means fewer calls from customers and lower product returns.

"DriveClone System Recovery adds value to the computer long after the warranty has ended," said Tim Beech, Manager of Desktop Products for Howard. "Customers have peace of mind, knowing that their Howard PC is always protected."

DriveClone System Recovery offers both internal and external backup. It creates a compressed archive of all files, programs, and operating system information to a hidden protected partition on the hard drive, and then automatically takes ongoing system snapshots to log changes to that archive. These system snapshots are quick recovery points for software-related data disasters.

The software's external hard disk imaging allows the customer to save an exact copy of a hard drive or partition to DVD, a USB hard drive, or to a network share. Scheduled incremental updates keep the saved disk image current. This enables complete recovery from any data disaster, including hard drive failure, but takes more time than quick recovery.

System manufacturers have the option of storing a factory backup image on a DriveClone System Recovery's hidden partition. Customers can later access this factory backup through a user-friendly interface to restore data.
