WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 2007 — Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, today announced that a new, lithium-ion powered version of its popular PowerMaxx Plus cordless screwdriver is now available. The new PowerGrip II provides almost twice as much power and higher speeds than the PowerMaxx Plus, which uses a NiCad battery.

The 7.2-volt Li-Power PowerGrip II is lightweight, only 1.6 lbs (.72kg.), and can drive twice as many screws per charge than the already advanced PowerMaxx Plus. With a maximum torque of 141 inch-lbs., 20 clutch settings, a drill setting, and its small size (height of 5-3/4” or 146 mm), it is ideal for assembly work, carpentry and cabinet work, electrical work or any other application that requires getting into tight spaces. The tool is packaged in a heavy-duty case, with an offset angle drive attachment for working in close quarters, a 1/4" keyless chuck and a high quality 20-piece screwdriver bit kit, as well as two batteries and a charger.

Ergonomically designed for user comfort, the PowerGrip II features a rubber-coated grip, a switch designed for both right- and left-handed operation and a forward/reverse lever that can be switched with just one finger.

The new PowerGrip II has a no-load speed of 0-250 and 0-750 RPMs, an aluminum die-cast housing to help with heat dissipation and increase durability, a two stage gearbox and an electronic brake to prevent overdriving of screws.
