YLE and Blue Order have signed a Framework Agreement under which YLE will upgrade their existing Media Archive installation to the latest version and will continue to extend the scope of the system. Via a series of new deployments the system will evolve into YLE's enterprise-wide media asset management system for television, radio, and online & new media productions (METRO).

The first new deployment at YLE, to be based on Media Archive 3.2, will include the production of all program material in the International Program Acquisitions operation, which produces yearly some 3.000 hours of programming for YLE TV-channels. The further steps include media asset managements for the News, for Radio, for Online services, and for the remaining television productions. In addition, the system will be used for managing file transfers to, from, and between, regions.

"We have spent considerable time and effort in defining the business processes and related requirements for METRO, our enterprise wide media asset management solution at YLE" says Mika Lavonen, Head of Development, Television, at YLE. "Based on this work we conducted intensive market research and detailed proof-of-concept tests to find a product that can deliver our vision of METRO. Blue Order's Media Archive emerged clearly as the best solution, and we found that Blue Order not only shares our vision, but contributes excellent domain expertise and shows a very high level of commitment."

YLE is the Finnish public broadcasting company providing 6 TV-channels, 6 nation-wide and 25 regional radio channels and a variety of new media services. YLE is a Blue Order Media Archive user since 2002 with, a digital radio archive containing approximately half a million media objects.
