CANTON, MA, July 4, 2007…Humboldt Storage and Moving of Canton, MA, greater Boston’s largest United Van Lines agent announced today that James Sullivan will become the next president of the Boston moving company effective immediately.

Previously, Sullivan served as general manager of the Boston moving company working closely with owners Howard and D’Arcy Goldman. Under the leadership of the Goldmans and Sullivan, the company has seen impressive growth, growing annual revenue from $10 million in 1999 to a projected $15 million for 2007.

As general manager, Sullivan was responsible for the daily operations of Humboldt Storage and Moving. He spent much of his time on strategic planning in relation to the warehouse services and equipment. Mr. Sullivan also spent considerable time working to establish and enhance training programs, enhancement of customer service, and the day-to-day management.

Also as general manager, Sullivan was instrumental in growing the amount of trucks in the hauling fleet from 49 trucks to 86, starting the portable storage business and capturing a majority of the United Van Lines business in greater Boston. Out of the seven United Van Lines agents in the greater Boston area, Humboldt possesses 65% of that overall market. Sullivan and his team have also made great strides in building their international moving business, growing staff and revenue over the past several years.

Humboldt Storage and Moving is greater Boston’s largest and oldest moving company, holding on to a tremendous reputation in the moving industry. As president, Sullivan will still oversee many of the general manager’s responsibilities but will also focus on building and maintaining that reputation. He will do that by implementing various new training programs, enhance the quality of life for Humboldt employees, focus on new talent and ensure all employees are working hard to earn the trust of clients.

“One of the most important factors in this business is trust,” stated Sullivan. “Customers trust us with all of their possessions, they trust us to be there when we say, and they must have confidence that the price we give them is the actual price they pay. I will continue to make it my top priority to ensure Humboldt earns the trust of everyone we serve.”

Mr. Sullivan will also lead Humboldt Storage and Moving to new growth by implementing a new branding strategy and enhancing technology the company uses. He will also work to educate markets about other offerings Humboldt has such as corporate moving, storage and portable containers as well as work to build additional offerings into the company.
Mr. Sullivan resides on the North shore with his wife and three children. He is an accounting graduate of Boston College and attended graduate studies at Northeastern University. A Saugus resident, Sullivan is a member of the Mass. Movers Association and has completed the entrepreneurial program sponsored by the National Movers Association. He has also participated in the prestigious Hay Group’s management leadership program which transforms managers into world-class leaders.
