blue number nine Announces Spring and Summer Tour Schedule

Funk hipster band blue number nine is hitting the road with a vengeance in the coming months, playing numerous outdoor festivals and club shows. All tour dates are listed below with more to be confirmed.

Based out of NYC and Jersey City, NJ, blue number nine was formed in 1995 and has been plugging away, without the help of a record label, manager, producer, or booking agent. In 2004, the band formed it's own record label and currently represents the Staten Island based band BELT as well.

With members hailing originally from Japan, Italy, Detroit, Buffalo and California, one might say that blue number nine resembles the United Nations. But New Jersey-based Stefanie Seskin felt this gave the band an identity when she started it in 1995. Each member's roots could not help but give the music a worldly flavor, one combining funk with Latin jazz, R & B, rock, pop and early Motown. Seskin, the lead singer, songwriter and flute player of blue number nine, fronts the band that has been likened to a "tornado on stage" and one that seems to bring a party wherever they go.

Along with that party comes a strong work ethic, as blue number nine has definitely stayed busy in the past year, having recorded their fourth record, to be released in mid May. They will been touring relentlessly in support of the record. Their healthy tour itinerary has expanded to include shows at resorts and private parties, something almost unheard of for an original band. In addition to the recording and shows, members of the band have recently built their own rehearsal/recording studio, and are producing other artists in that studio.

blue number nine is the first independent band to receive a product endorsement from Ultimate Support, a company that manufactures guitar, speaker and microphone stands. They have released three CDs to date, 2000's self-titled debut, a live album in 2001, and 2003's On a Shoestring. Their third studio CD Living It Up In the New World will be released this June. With hundreds of shows under their belt, the highlight of their career so far was playing the Levi's First Stage prior to the headliner Chicago at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island two years in a row.

While blue number nine is a group of amazing musicians that write catchy and melodic songs with tight grooves, it's an energetic live performance that separates them from the pack, and they invite you to come see why.
