HINGHAM, MA, July 2007 - Harrington Memorial Hospital today announced that Edward H. Moore will be joining the Hospital as Chief Executive Officer.
Harrington Memorial, based in Southbridge, Massachusetts, is a 113-bed hospital serving 17 towns in South Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut. The Hospital is governed by a volunteer board compromised of community leaders.

Mr. Moore will join the Hospital effective July 30, 2007. He is an experienced healthcare leader who brings more than thirty years of management and operational experience across both community and teaching hospitals. In 2004, he joined MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham, Massachusetts, as its Chief Operating Officer. Following the hospital’s acquisition by Vanguard Health Systems, he was appointed as interim Chief Executive Officer. He was subsequently asked to become Administrator/Chief Operating Officer of the 140-bed Leonard Morse Hospital in Natick, Massachusetts, also a Vanguard hospital.

At Leonard Morse, Mr. Moore had full profit and loss responsibility and increased volume through the creation of new programs, such as bariatric surgery and pain management. Under his direction, the Hospital recruited 30 physicians and also created a full-service hospitalist program.

“We’re delighted that Mr. Moore has elected to join our organization,” noted Hamer Clarke, Chairman of the Board of Harrington Memorial Hospital. “He brings a wealth of experience in managing and growing outstanding community hospitals, and we look forward to his leadership of Harrington Memorial Hospital.”
“Finding top healthcare leadership talent is always a challenge,” according to Alan Peppel, Chairman of Harrington Memorial Hospital Search Committee. “We were fortunate that we were able to establish early an effective process to vet our needs and to identify some truly outstanding candidates. Mr. Moore was clearly the best of those candidates, and we’re extremely pleased he has accepted our offer.”

Harrington Memorial, a non-profit institution, officially opened its doors on September 7, 1931, with a capacity of 34 beds, 6 children's cribs, and 13 bassinets. Today, the Hospital has grown to a modern, 113-bed hospital which provides quality health care to a service area of approximately 350 square miles covering 17 towns in South Central Massachusetts and Northeastern Connecticut.

Harrington has a complete range of inpatient medical services (i.e., medical, surgical, ICU/CCU, psychiatric, pediatrics, and OB/GYN beds) and a wide range of outpatient services including mental health, substance abuse, occupational medicine, and other programs.
