Wayland Potato Festival Promises to be a Fun Filled Event

The Wayland Fire Department, in conjunction with the Gunlocke Company, will be sponsoring the 26th Annual Wayland Potato Festival to be held at Victory Park in Wayland, NY on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th.

The festivities will begin on Friday evening, August 24th, at 6:30 PM, when the Wayland Fire Department will be hosting a Fire Department Waterball competition at the North End of Main Street. Entertainment, Arts and Crafts booths, and food vendors will be present all day Saturday and Sunday. All kinds of Potato Foods will be available, including Potato Pancakes, Salt Potatoes, and Potato Soup. There will also be children's entertainment and fire prevention resources available on both days.

Several new events will take place this year including a Children's Potato Hunt and a Potato Sack Race. In addition, the Vincent House will run a 5k Run/Walk on Saturday morning. The Classic Car Show will also take place on Saturday.

Saturday Evening will be the annual fireworks display sponsored by the Gunlocke Company. Sunday will prove to be a day full of events. At 7:30 AM, there will be religious services. At 10 AM, Noon, and 2 PM, for the second year in a row, the Wayland Potato Festival will be host to the SpudBowl football games, Wayland vs. Livonia. The popular Tractor Pull Competition will take place on Sunday.

Admission is Free and there will be ample parking available. Please no dogs in Victory Park.
