San Francisco, CA. July 11, 2007. BitRock, the premier provider of complete Open Source Application Deployment solutions, has provided Gnosis with an easy to install, dependency-free package of open source software to ease adoption of the Four Corners Medical System. The software was developed by Gnosis to improve record keeping capabilities, aggregate patient data for medical research and provide medical support services in developing countries.

The Custom Stack BitRock developed for Gnosis utilizes BitRock’s expertise in packaging open source. BitRock Custom Stacks combine precompiled, integrated, ready-to-run open source components and proprietary software with an easy-to-use installation tool. Included in the Gnosis custom stack is an open source LAMP distribution, containing Apache, MySQL and PHP. This distribution provides the framework for the Gnosis stack.

BitRock Custom Stacks are packaged with an intuitive, multiplatform installer, which steps users through a fail-proof installation process. All necessary configuration steps, such as setting passwords and binding to the appropriate ports, are performed by the installer, so the user is 'up and running' with the software as soon as installation is complete.

“We are very happy to be able to contribute our expertise and be a part of the effort to improve health services in developing countries.” Says Daniel Lopez, BitRock Founder & CTO, “We hope the ease of installation of the Four Corners Medical System will enable many more clinics and medical professionals to take advantage of this unique and valuable tool.”

The Four Corners Medical System has been implemented in five clinics in developing areas of Guatemala and is slated to be implemented in two more within the month. Gnosis Founder and CTO, Rogers Hellman, says he is “grateful to BitRock for their product and the work they have done to facilitate Gnosis projects.” To learn more about Gnosis and the effort to enable health care providers in developing nations to better manage medical treatment visit http://www.gmproject.org.
