Click to Donate: American Charter Schools to Receive Funding from New Search Engine Charteroo.com will donate half its advertising revenue to K-12 charter schools

July 11, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Education News
Santa Fe, NM, July 11, 2007— U.S. based charter schools are expected to receive millions of dollars in additional funding each year from Charteroo.com, a new search engine launched today by www.SearchEngineCorp.com, a custom search engine developer. Charteroo.com, the advertiser-supported search engine available at www.Charteroo.com, will donate 50 percent of its gross ad revenue to grade K-12 charter schools in local communities across the nation. On the first visit to Charteroo.com, users select their state and then designate the charter school which they would like to support.

Charteroo.com is a sister site to CatchTomorrow.org, www.CatchTomorrow.org, which was launched in April, 2007 to provide funding to public schools on a similar basis. Both sites were developed and are administered by Search Engine Corp., of Santa Fe, New Mexico, which plans to launch additional custom, web search engines in the coming months to support a range of social and philanthropic causes through advertising revenue generated by these sites.

“America’s schools have been compelled to cut back on important segments of our children’s education, ranging from art, theater and music programs to sports and field trips,” noted Search Engine Corp. founder and CEO Craig Romero. “Our goal is to provide significant supplemental funding to help support these and other instructional areas. Through our search engines, Americans have a way of helping their local schools financially without opening their own wallets.”

After the first year, the first round of quarterly donations from Charteroo.com is expected to total nearly $4 million and the yearly donations to exceed $16 million. If a small school with 400 supporters set Charteroo.com as their home page and averaged two searches per day, Search Engine Corp. estimates that school could raise more than $2,160 annually.

During its first quarter of operation, sister site CatchTomorrow.org has generated sufficient traffic from online visitors and expects to donate $3,000 to the program’s pilot district in Belen, N.M.

“We immediately saw the potential of CatchTomorrow.org to gain much-needed funding for our school district. We quickly switched the search engine for all of our school’s computers to CatchTomorrow.org,” said Belen Consolidated Schools IT Director Patricia Benavidez of Belen, N.M.

“Charteroo.com and CatchTomorrow.org provide a simple way for communities to support local schools,” said New Mexico Senator Michael Sanchez. “The funds raised by these sites will effectively contribute to increasing funding for our nation's schools."
