Solar4SF.org launches major solar energy advocacy initiative with new site aimed at accelerating solar electricity adoption through consumer education.

July 12, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
Solar4SF.org, a San Francisco based consumer advocacy organization, announced today the launch of its website dedicated to providing San Francisco Bay Area residents considering solar energy – accessible and digestible information about solar electricity applications for residences and businesses. The site, www.solar4sf.org, addresses the myriad issues related to solar electricity including metering and consumption brackets, government rebates, legislation supporting solar expansion, news, blogs and tools to assess and evaluate if solar energy is a viable option.

Solar4SF.org is the creation of Dan Barahona and Sylvia Ventura, who after weeks of research became aware of the "information gap" between consumers, providers and legislators preventing wider adoption of solar energy. Solar4SF.org intends to bridge this gap with readily available, succinct information and help accelerate conversion to this source of renewable energy.

San Francisco currently leads the nation in solar energy adoption, with large incentive programs being set in place and the ambitious goal of 10,000 solar-powered residences by 2010. Today only 500 homes out of 190,000 in the city have solar. Solar4SF.org is committed to exceeding this goal by providing residents and businesses throughout the Bay Area the tools and information necessary to make their decision.
