ATTO Technology’s Fibre Channel Host Adapter Chosen By Autodesk For Media and Entertainment Solutions

July 13, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments is pleased to announce that Autodesk, Inc., a world leader in 2D and 3D design software, has entered into an agreement to integrate ATTO Celerity 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel Host Adapters as part of the Autodesk visual effects and editing/finishing solutions.

ATTO’s Celerity FC-44ES host adapter will be utilized to achieve high-performance data transfers between workstations and storage systems accessed by Autodesk Inferno, Autodesk Flame and Autodesk Flint visual effects systems, as well as the Autodesk Fire and Autodesk Smoke editing/finishing systems.

The Celerity FC-44ES optimizes the latest in host interconnect technology with PCI Express (PCIe), a serial, high-speed connection that supports aggregate throughput up to 1-GB/sec. Since PCI Express host adapters move data more efficiently than others, the FC-44ES provides a valuable advantage in data intensive environments such as HD and 2K editing applications. The FC-44ES also features ATTO’s exclusive Advanced Data Streaming (ADS™) Technology for controlled acceleration of data transfers. With a combination of features that provides controlled acceleration of large and small blocks of data, ADS Technology enables users to achieve the ultimate in I/O performance.

The Autodesk storage solutions optimize digital content creation workflows by providing immediate high-resolution playback and fast rendering, while minimizing a facility’s network traffic. Integrated device control for media ingest and output offers convenience and allows for efficient project archiving, enabling users to back up in-progress and completed work.

“Autodesk’s selection of the ATTO Celerity FC-44ES demonstrates its commitment to providing high-performance work flow environments for its industry-leading systems and services,” states Timothy Klein, president and CEO of ATTO Technology. “ATTO has been providing technology leading connectivity solutions for the media and entertainment solutions markets for almost two decades. As a leader and innovative provider of solutions that help customers create, manage and share their data and digital assets more effectively, Autodesk’s selection of our Celerity Fibre Channel host adapters reinforces ATTO’s role in delivering leading storage infrastructure solutions.”

“Autodesk’s systems have been adopted by leading visual effects and post-production facilities around the globe. These facilities work on mission-critical projects under very tight deadlines,” said Stig Gruman, vice president, Systems, Autodesk Media & Entertainment. “They require gear that is reliable and capable of editing and producing content in concert with HD and 2K applications. ATTO is recognized as a technology leader for developing storage connectivity solutions that meet the extraordinary requirements of editing and post-production environments.”
