Digital Publishing System makes online magazine sales simple with its new Digital Rights Management feature

Leicester, UK (July 2007) One of the main issues that has prevented more publishing houses from being turned on to digital publishing is the fact that until now it has generally meant offering their online publications and magazines for free. Where the current edition is made available online this can have a detrimental effect for on-the-shelf magazines. It is therefore common that only archive copies are put online in their entirety, and this is often done in the form of a dull PDF, taking the shine off any glossy magazine. Well there is some great news for publishing houses as the Digital Publishing System from Digital Publishing International, part of Michael Assocites Ltd, has a brand new feature - Digital Rights Management.

Digital Rights Management, or DRM as it’s more commonly referred to, allows publishers to launch their magazines online and offline at the same time, and features a safe and secure subscription method of online payment for all their publications. There are a number of different DRM methods that the Digital Publishing System offers from basic email login to a fully tracked and traced subscriber package, which can be used dependant on the publisher’s need and preference.

The Digital Publishing System is Flash based and can be used to turn any multi-page publication into an electronic version which allows readers to flick and turn though pages giving the look and feel of a printed magazine or catalogue. There is no constraint on the number of pages the Digital Publishing System can manage and the whole host of user-friendly features making any publication easy to read and to navigate.

Digital Publishing International Creative Director, Michael Cheung says, “Interest in digital publishing is beginning to soar. It is such an instant and sustainable way of publishing that many companies are adopting, and it fits in well with their Corporate and Social responsibility agendas.” When asked what made his product different to alternative e-book products on the market, he responded, “Many of the eBook, eCatalogs, eMagazine based type systems available are very slow to load, awkward to use, or have limited features making them little more than the PDF they are meant to be replacing. Our Digital Publishing System by contrast, is fast, user-friendly and has a whole host of features from simple hotlinks to full multimedia animation, allowing for the complete customisation of each publication. The addition of DRM to the package is a great feature in the Digital Publishing System.”

Not only is the Digital Publishing now available with DRM options, another great feature of the Digital Publishing is that it is cross-platform compatible allowing readers to download their favourite publications whilst travelling to work or even whilst away on holiday via their PDA or mobile phone.

The time has come to forget about those handbag sized magazines and ‘compact’ broadsheets, the Digital Publishing System makes for truly pocket sized publications, that won’t end up on the floor of the Tube.
