Galvanek & Wahl Ad Agency has won a prestigious Aegis award for the short form documentary they produced for BMSfilms the in-house production department at Bristol-Myers Squibb.

The video entitled, “Secure the Future-Lesotho, Africa”, explores the HIV epidemic in Lesotho, Africa and the efforts being put forth to combat this problem. In Lesotho, around 20,000 infants and children are affected by HIV along with one in every four young adults. In fact, every minute of every hour of every day children die of HIV, many of which are in Africa. With Africa’s extreme lack of Pediatricians, many infected children have not been able to obtain treatment for HIV. The short documentary exposes the problems in Lesotho and explains the dedication that Bristol-Myers Squibb is putting forth to help the situation.

“Our agency was honored to be chosen by Bristol-Myers Squibb to produce this video and to have won such a respectable award from Aegis. We have produced video/radio projects for Bristol-Myers Squibb for over 4 years and this recent project was one of the most fulfilling for me, due to the important story that it tells” says Paxton Galvanek, Partner & CEO of Galvanek & Wahl Advertising Agency.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company and the Bristol-Myers Squibb Foundation launched SECURE THE FUTURE®, an unprecedented public-private collaboration to help alleviate the HIV/AIDS crisis among women and children in sub-Saharan Africa, the region most affected by the pandemic. The company has initially committed approximately $150 million to SECURE THE FUTURE, the first and largest corporate commitment of its kind to fight HIV/AIDS in Africa. The goal is to build a range of innovative, replicable, and sustainable model approaches that address pressing medical, educational and community outreach needs in resource-limited settings.
