At the urging of her husband, Teddy, Brooke Good of Walters entered the 2007 Mrs. Oklahoma International Pageant. She thought it would help her to get back into shape after having her second son and that was her only expectation upon entering the pageant. She achieved that goal and more as this young mother of two was crowned by her husband on Mother's Day weekend in Bartlesville.

The Mrs. International pageant system celebrates the accomplishments of today's married women. It stresses community service platform and 50% of a contestants total score comes from this portion of the pageant. Good's platform is Sexual Child Abuse: Overcoming the Nightmare. As a survivor herself, Good reaches out to young girls who find themselves in the same situation offering them support and encouragement so that they can work toward leading fulfilling lives. "Sexual child abuse is an intentional activity," Good says. "The game itself turns out to be 'our little secret'. She says that only one out of every 10 people ever tell anyone about their 'secret'. "Some even block these shameful events until triggered by problems," she says.

Good regularly spends time with the girls at the Marie Detty Girls Home in Lawton where she shares her story with the girls. "After telling them my story, the girls slowly opened up one by one and shared with me their own stories," she says. The girl's teacher came to watch Good as she competed for the title of Mrs. Oklahoma. "After I won, she brought a present to me on stage," Good said. "It was a photo of the girls and a letter from each of them telling me good luck and how I had touched and changed their lives. Some told me that for the first time, they are dreaming again and making personal goals for themselves!!" Good said that reading the letter from the girls made her feel like a true winner.

After a send off party in Tulsa on Sunday, Good will head to Chicago on Monday where she will compete with 53 other women for the coveted title of Mrs. International. "I feel truly blessed to be representing Oklahoma next week, " she enthuses. "This has been an awesome experience.
