The Vault VIP Lounge, www.myspace.com/thevaultvip, located inside the OC Pavilion, is pleased to welcome Luther Hughes and The Cannonball Coltrane Project on Friday, June 20, 2007 at 8 PM. Once a basement vault for a large bank, the Vault VIP Lounge has been transformed into an intimate jazz nightclub with hightop tables, leather sofas, and romantic lighting.

Luther Hughes, bassist and band leader, organized The Cannonball Coltrane Project as a tribute to the music of jazz legends John Coltrane and Cannonball Adderly. Hughes has performed or recorded with such greats as Gene Harris, Quincy Jones, Hampton Hawes, Louis Bellson, Charlie Shoemake, The Crusaders, Carmen McRae, Horace Silver, James Moody, and Mundell Lowe. Luther teaches at Cal State Fullerton, Fullerton College, Saddleback Community College and the Jazzmasters Workshop, all in Southern California. He also performs at jazz festivals and clubs worldwide.

Glenn Cashman, tenor sax, holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Composition and currently is Director of Jazz Studies at Colgate University in New York. Bruce Babad, alto sax, is the Director of Jazz Studies at Fullerton College. In addition to venues in the Southern California area, he has performed at the North Sea and Montreux jazz festivals. Bruce leads his own group and has performed with such artists as Natalie Cole, Mel Lewis, Bobby Caldwell, and the 2006 Grammy nominated Bill Holman Band. He appears on over 75 recordings and numerous jingles, TV and movie soundtracks.

“Luther Hughes has assembled a cooking quintet featuring the tenor of Glenn Cashman and the alto of Bruce Babad. Certainly, this album captures the fire, excitement and, if you will, the "flavor" of these great innovators without ever trying to copy their sound.” - George Fendel, Jazz Scene
Ed Czach, pianist, is a freelance musician and performs internationally. He holds a Bachelor of Music and Masters of Music from the Eastman School of Music in Rodchester, NY. Ed has performed or recorded with such notables as Clark Terry, Mel Tormé, Chuck Mangione, Bill Henderson, Doug MacLeod and The Jazz Coop. He also serves as musical director for a number of artists. Ed is affectionately called 'groovedog' by the band members because he grooves so hard.

Paul Kreibich, drummer, is a much sought-after drummer in the So. Cal. jazz scene, Paul also leads two of his own groups, The Jazz Coop and Lonesome Tree. He has played or recorded with such world-class artists as Ray Charles, Carmen McRae, Nancy Wilson, Red Rodney, Mose Allison, Phil Woods, James Moody, Cedar Walton and the Woody Herman Orchestra to name a few.
