It all started when GamerSoundtracks.com co-owner Alex Martinez bought imported sheet music for one of his favorite video games, Final Fantasy VI. “The songs are absolutely incredible,” he says, “being a musician myself, I wanted to learn how to play these songs on my guitar & bass so I could turn them into my own style.”

Alex began surfing the web to see if there were others out there like him. He was blown away by how large the video game music community was. “I couldn’t believe how popular video game music had become,” Alex says, “I wanted to join the fray.”

After remixing a few tunes, Alex decided he wanted to build a website dedicated to everything involving video game music, at which point the initial stages of GamerSoundtracks.com was born. “I knew a little about web design from high school but I still needed a refresher,” he said. “So I bought a couple books and started right away.”

Now, after several months of research, design & hard work, GamerSoundtracks.com is ready to go. Needing some help, Alex’s friend Dusten Sofge became co-owner to help run the site. “We’re very excited about where we can take this,” Alex says, “With lots of hard work, we believe we can become a premier source for video game music.”

So what will GamerSoundtracks.com be offering? “Obviously we’re going to allow visitors to send in their remixes to be put on the site, but we will also have piano sheet music, guitar tabs, videos, contests & much more.”

Even after the months of work, there is still plenty to do. “We have a ton of MIDI music files that will be uploaded over the next few weeks,” Alex says, “eventually the site will be fully user interactive as well, but we’re going to take one step at a time.”

For now, visitors can browse through their music collection, join the forums & submit a music file if they have one. Alex mentions that visitors should bookmark their page because they will be expanding day by day. “This is a site we are dedicated to. It is our hope that every day when visitors come to our site, we will have something new for them to see or to listen to.”
