(Durham, NC) – July 16, 2007—Want a little get up and go with your morning breakfast bar? Some real snap in those corn flakes? It may be just a matter of time before these and other caffeinated products hit your local grocer or convenience store! Dr. Robert Bohannon, the inventor of Buzz Donuts™ and Buzzed Bagels™, has launched Encaff Products, a new company devoted to promoting the use of his revolutionary caffeine additive. The product is already being tested in some very unusual food items. Dr. Bohannon developed the method to add caffeine to popular foods and says products containing his microencapsulated caffeine will now be marketed under the Encaff Products line. All foods containing the caffeine additive will be labeled as containing Encaff™.

Dr. Bohannon is the molecular scientist who developed a way to mask the normal bitterness of caffeine so that it can be used in food and pastry products such as bagels and donuts and is now developing the next generation caffeinated food products to hit the market under the Encaff trademark.

“By creating the Encaff brand, we will be assuring consumers of a consistency in the quality and quantity of the caffeine in any of the products,” said Dr. Bohannon. “When customers see the Encaff name, they will know it’s the real thing and what to expect when it comes to taste, or in this case, the LACK of taste!”

Dr Bohannon thinks it’s just a matter of time before caffeinated pastries and other foods become a morning mainstay. He has already filed patent on the idea along with a method of controlling the amount of caffeine contained in the food. With the Encaff brand, the number of food products that can be caffeinated is virtually limitless. He is currently in discussions with several companies looking at using Encaff in products ranging from chewing gum to breakfast bars to Buzzed™ smoothies. A typical cup of coffee contains 50 mg of caffeine. Encaff products will typically contain between 50 and 100 mg of caffeine, which is considered a safe, yet efficacious way to get caffeine unlike other products being marketed, all without the bitter taste.

“Some people get their caffeine buzz from soda, chocolate and other sources besides coffee,” continues Dr. Bohannon. “Encaff will allow consumers to get their caffeine buzz by simply eating a delicious food item. “Healthy, tasty versions are already being developed.”
