HOUSTON, TX. – After researching senior-housing facilities on her own when her mother had to relocate due to illness, and after getting her father into an active adult community in Cinco Ranch, Prudential Gary Greene Realtor Mona DiMuria, realized something. There was a need for real estate agents who could assist senior citizens and their families when the time came for them to retire or to move into an assisted-living facility. That experience led her to work toward a certification as a Senior Real Estate Specialist, a designation she recently earned.

“Nobody was available to guide us and tell us what our options were. I had to do it all on my own,” said DiMuria, who together with her husband, Jeffrey, formed Team DiMuria, a top producing team at Prudential Gary Greene’s Katy office. To receive her certification, DiMuria finished two days of comprehensive in-class training and passed an in-depth exam.

She is eager to put her new skills to use in Katy, an area that is becoming an attractive option for seniors. “We have a lot of clients looking to retire here,” DiMuria said. “There’s affordable housing, good climate and wonderful medical facilities. Also, many folks are buying second homes or vacation homes, and a lot of them are coming to this area to be closer to family.” She said the influx of seniors has resulted in the opening of many new facilities for active adults, communities with both homes and apartments.

DiMuria’s manager, Tracy Bogiel, praised her efforts to seek the Senior Real Estate Specialist certification. “Mona is always looking to expand her knowledge, and I believe this particular designation has more personal meaning to her because of her affection for the elderly,” said Bogiel. “Mona understands the needs that are specific to more mature clients, and I’m proud of her accomplishments.”
