Sonny wrote the song for eight-time World Champion calf and steer roper, Roy Cooper. In turn, Roy selected the song to be included on the DVD documenting his life and times entitled "Roping My Dreams: My Love, Passion, Body & Soul." "Cowboy Cool" will hit radio via CD Tex August Volume 57. "Texas giants like Bob Wills, Ray Price, Willie Nelson, and George Strait have built dynasties in this state and I hope somewhere down the road, my name is similarly related to great Texas country music", Burgess said commenting on his career endeavors.
