Silver Spring, MD – July 20, 2007 – In its continuing efforts to support the industry’s new Parking Lot Strategic Plan, the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association has introduced a tool to assist in promoting the benefits of concrete parking lots to specifiers. The tool, a 20-page flip-chart book, includes a parking lot presentation that provides the promoter key additional information not viewable by the specifier. NRMCA believes that this approach will enable promoters to reinforce key points and cover additional information to further support specifiers.

The flip-chart comes with a Windows PowerPoint version on CD for electronic presentations which also enable promoters to edit and print page updates for the booklet.

“The flip-chart is just one of the tools that will help promoters drive home the point that concrete parking lots are first-cost competitive, environmentally superior, and extremely durable and inexpensive to maintain,” said NRMCA Senior Director of National Resources Phil Kresge, who developed the flip-chart concept for NRMCA. Other promotion tools and programs created to support the parking lot strategic plan can be reviewed at www.nrmca.org/parking. More information about the flip-chart and how to order it is available at www.nrmca.org/flipchart.

The new concrete parking lot plan was developed by the Concrete Industry Parking Area Working Group. In addition to NRMCA, participation and major contributions have been provided by the Portland Cement Association, regional promotion groups, state and area associations and concrete and cement companies. The plan calls for the expansion of national concrete market share of parking areas to increase to 15.1% in 2010 from 9.1% in 2005.

NRMCA, founded in 1930 and based in Silver Spring, MD, represents the producers of ready mixed concrete and the companies that provide materials, equipment and support to the industry. It conducts education, training, promotion, research, engineering, safety, environmental, technological, lobbying and regulatory programs.
