SAT NAV FOR GOLFERS AT CROWN GOLF COURSES
July 20, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Sports NewsCrown Golf, Europe’s largest golf course operator with 32 venues, has enhanced its reputation for innovation and customer service by signing an agreement with Elumina Ltd which will see the latest golf-car mounted GPS systems installed across its 32-venue, 500-strong fleet.
The ‘sat nav for golfers’ GPS unit consists of a 10.4 inch screen facing the golfer within the cart which displays a full-colour hole-by-hole guide, giving golfers live yardages from their ball to the flag or key hazards. Future interactive features will further enhance the playing experience, including the facility to order food and drink direct from the cart, to be collected at ‘the turn’ or via a convenience cart. And because the screen refreshes up to five times per hole, multiple advertising opportunities can be linked with club promotional activity or corporate partner messages.
“We are delighted to be rolling out this excellent added-value benefit to our members and guests across all 32 clubs,” said Peter Manby, CEO of Crown Golf. “As well as improving the day’s enjoyment and experience for visitors, it ought to help us out with pace of play, too. Crown Golf are keen to champion cutting-edge technology to help shape the future of golf in Britain and we see this as an excellent tool in that quest.”
And, continues Manby, golfers will in future enjoy multiple benefits. “Giving golfers live up-to-date leaderboard information during competitions, while they’re looking forward to tucking into the mouth-watering sandwich they’ve just called up from the cart, will make golf a more rewarding experience for everyone.”
St Mellion, The Bristol and The Vale already have the system fitted into their carts, with the other 29 Crown Golf clubs soon to follow.
