METABO EXTENDS ITS LITHIUM-ION POWER TOOL OFFERINGS INTO 24-VOLT CLASS WITH NEW ROTARY HAMMER

July 20, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Business News
WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 2007 — Metabo Corporation, a leading international manufacturer of professional grade portable electric power tools and abrasives for industrial, construction and welding applications, today presented a new, 24-volt lithium-ion-powered rotary hammer. The KHA24, Metabo’s first 24-volt lithium-ion tool, is lighter weight, offers more power and has a longer service life than rotary hammers powered with traditional NiCad batteries.

The cordless KHA24 was designed to be highly functional and easy-to-use, especially in overhead applications, while on a ladder or in other places difficult to operate a corded tool. With the battery positioned underneath the tool, the KHA24 is perfectly balanced and can drill precise, straight holes in concrete, block, brick or stone using SDS-Plus carbide-tipped drill bits.

The KHA24’s Vibratech anti-vibration side handle and the vibration-dampening rear handle protect the user when performing any of the tool’s three functions: rotary hammering, rotary drilling and chipping. With a no-load speed of 1,040 RPM, the new rotary hammer offers a capacity of 3/4” in concrete using solid bits, 1/2” in mild steel and 7/8” in softwood.

In addition, it is equipped with Vario Tacho Constamatic (VTC) speed stabilization, so the tool can maintain its no-load speed, even under heavy operating conditions.

Metabo’s “CODE” anti-theft system is provided with the KHA24 and operates via a one-touch infrared remote control to protect the tool against unauthorized use. The tool also has a rotation stop, which allows for chiseling or chipping, or for setting self-drilling anchors; a reverse feature, which allows for efficient drill removal; and a die cast aluminum gearbox for rapid heat dissipation and increased tool life. The KHA24 weighs 8.1 lbs. and has a maximum tightening torque 142 inch lbs.
