EMC Turns to Tango Pix for Viral Video Personalization and Humor Strike a Chord with Technical Audiences

July 26, 2007 (PRLEAP.COM) Technology News
“Tango Pix produced a viral video for EMC that points to a serious IT challenge by leveraging humor and personalization for prospective buyers,” said Eric-Jan Schmidt, Worldwide Director of Marketing Programs at EMC. “Working with Tango Pix, we were able to reach a technical audience who make purchasing, implementation and management decisions around their data protection environments. In addition, we needed to ensure that the video could work around the globe so it could be repurposed in burgeoning markets like Japan, China and Korea. We will be able to leverage this tool for quite some time and are extremely happy with the results.”

The intent of the video is to display the frustrations of IT staff through humor when using tape systems to store information, pointing to the need for disk based storage systems. To make the experience more engaging and personalized for the viewer, they must first submit a name in order to view the video. Once the video launches, the viewer’s actual name shows up in various scenes – on a cell phone, on a birthday cake, on a post it note and at the close of the video.

Ed Marmen, Tango Pix’s Creative Director, said, “EMC had a great idea – to use humor to reach their audience. Everyone loves to laugh and people have great recall when company messages are delivered with humor. And the added personalization really reaches out and grabs you.”
