New Orleans-based Small Business In Running for Award: VentureWalk honored for potential project to help small businesses post-Katrina

New Orleans, Louisiana, — Désirée H. Young of VentureWalk Business Partners has been selected from 762 applicants as a semi-finalist in the running to receive a $1,000.00 small business grant from Idea Cafe.com, a top-rated small business website.VentureWalk Business Partners helps businesses gain more market share by developing recovery tactics, business growth strategies, and marketing plans. Based just outside of New Orleans, its mission is to equip business owners to become the best marketers and managers of their ventures.
Young, Principal of VentureWalk Business Partners, said, “Even now, 2 years after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, it’s important for business owners on the Gulf Coast to use any and all resources available to assist them in rebuilding. Via this grant, I want to also be a resource for local entrepreneurs that are still struggling with how to market their businesses post-Katrina. ” If selected, Young will use the grant to establish a monthly electronic newsletter and podcast to communicate up-to-the minute information on rebuilding resources and a virtual community for those affected by the storm.
The field of semi-finalists for this grant will be reduced to finalists and the winner will be determined by the vote of IdeaCafe.com's 32,000 members worldwide and announced online on August 15, 2007, Idea Cafe's 12th anniversary online.
Francie Ward, CEO of IdeaCafe.com, explained that the semi-finalists for this grant, The Al Marks Inventive Mind Grant, “demonstrate an inventive approach which will inspire others who come to IdeaCafe.com seeking advice on starting and running a business, plus they have a plan to reach out and help others in some way.”
