Honoring the Human Spirit, works of Self-preservation and Perseverance headline the Stella Jones Gallery through August

New Orleans, LA-“WADE IN THE WATER…I honor you – CHARLY PALMER
The current exhibition of paintings, based on Negro Spirituals, chronicles the spiritual journey of African Americans as they “Wade in the Water” of their experiences of poverty, faith, and injustice in America. IRVIN MAYFIELD will join us for a special presentation of Negro spirituals.

Grammy Award Nominee and Billboard Music Award Winner, IRVIN MAYFIELD,
will join us for a special performance of spirituals on WHITE LINEN NIGHT.

“I Promise to Remember” – JEFF COOK
The exhibition, based on the artist’s experiences in New Orleans immediately after Katrina, consists of two and three-dimensional works made from found objects, collages and manipulated photographs. .

“Look Up, Hold On” and “Unclaimed”- RUKIYA
This mixed media/textile artist will utilize two galleries as she pays homage to those who survived Katrina and still “looking up to god and holding on.” The second gallery pays homage to those 118 souls who are yet Unclaimed.
